Cultural Festivals 2017


Cultural festivals are as strong a summer tradition in RI as Del’s and clamcakes. We rounded up a few of the biggest ones happening this season so you can mark your calendar (or just tear this page out and stick it on your fridge) and dive into a plate of fried dough.

JUN 8 – 11

Saint Anthony’s Feast: Come join the 39th annual festival celebrating Italian culture. Fun and games, live music/entertainment and authentic Italian food for the whole family. Saint Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave, N. Providence.

JUN 10

Portuguese Heritage Festival and Waterfire: A Portuguese-themed waterfire complete with a traditional dance performance, followed by a celebration at Alex and Ani City Center complete with live music, entertainment and food. 7:30pm, 2 Kennedy Plaza, PVD.

Rhode Island Scottish Highland Festival: Appreciate Scottish culture with all types of pipes that side of the ocean, Scottish food and traditional competitions. 11:30am, 78 Richmond Townhouse Rd, Richmond.

JUN 11

RI Day of Portugal Parade and Portuguese Heritage Festival: Celebrate Portuguese culture with bands, floats and everything in between. Noon – 9pm, 82 Smith St, PVD.


Venezuela Flag Raising and Independence Day Celebration: Celebrate Venezuela’s independence day with ceremony and celebration. 6pm, 25 Dorrance St, PVD.


Argentina Flag Raising and Independence Day Celebration: Come back to City Hall for another independence day celebration and flag raising ceremony for Argentina. 5pm, 25 Dorrance St, PVD.


Cape Verdean Independence Day Festival: Celebrate the Cape Verdean community with traditional music, dance and food. 11am, India Point Park, India St, PVD.

JUL 15

Colombian Flag Raising: Celebrate Colombian independence with this flag raising ceremony that follows a speaking program inside City Hall. 4:30pm, 137 Roosevelt Ave, Pawtucket.

JUL 17

Colombian-American Parade and Festival: The parade will start in Pawtucket and end with a festival in Central Falls. 10am – 8pm, Pawtucket and Higginson Park, Central Falls.

JUL 19 – 23

St. Mary’s Feast: This is the 112th year Cranston celebrates Italian culture with great food, live music, games and fireworks. Starts at 4pm, 15 Phenix Ave, Cranston.

JUL 29 & 30

Cultural Survival Summer Bazaar: This event brings work from indigenous artists around the world directly to the American people. Authentic clothing, jewelry, crafts, artwork, home goods and live performances. 10am – 5pm, Tiverton Four Corners Art Center, 3852 Main Rd, Tiverton.


Independence Day of Ecuador Flag Raising: Celebrate Ecuadorian independence with a flag raising ceremony, and follow it up with an extra celebration event. 5:30pm, 82 Smith St, PVD.

Dominican Parade and Festival of RI: Celebrate with traditional Dominican music, dance and food. 10am, Roger Williams Park Temple to Music, 1000 Elmwood Ave, PVD.

AUG 13 – 14

24th Annual Bolivian Festival de la Virgen De Urkupina: Participate in a procession and then enjoy events at the Alex and Ani Skating Rink. Sat 2 – 10pm, Sun 3 – 6pm, 244 Main St, PVD.

AUG 18 – 20

Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church: Greek Festival: 90th annual Greek Pride and Culture fest. Food, marketplace cafe and dancers help celebrate Greece and its heritage. 97 Walcott St, Pawtucket. 


64th Annual Guatemala Festival: Celebrate Guatemalan culture with this amazing festival. Noon – 7pm, 263 India St, PVD.
