The extraordinarily talented John Rego agreed to illustrate this issue’s cover with his version of avian love, and if his cityscape feels like a bit of a mashup, that’s because it is. Who knew PVD loomed so large that even those in Boston’s Public Garden remain aware of its presence? Rego said of the cover art, “I’m fascinated by geese. They’re my favorite animal. And their flexible necks allow for a lot of artistic leeway.” When asked what influences and inspires him, Rego responded, “I’m influenced by scientific illustration and pop surrealism, and inspired by my surroundings.”
