Roller Derby Roundup: The Honeys Steal A Win From The Mob

Game 2 of Providence Roller Derby’s 2018 home season took place on Saturday, July 28, and the Mob Squad battled the Old Money Honeys. The Mob, coming off a loss in June to the Sakonnet River Roller Rats, were hoping to even out the playing field with a victory. However, the Honeys came out strong with multiple lead jams and high scoring passes.

#40 Milla Lowlife, captain of the Honeys, skated the highest scoring jam of the bout with 22 points. Not to be outdone, #31 Smashley Olsen, captain of the Mob, fired back an 18-point jam in the second half. By halftime, the Honeys were ahead 43-103. Providing some of the hard-hitting blocking for their teams, both Honeys’ #2350 Freak’n Awesome and Mob’s #247 Hot Sauce were awarded MVP Blockers of the bout.

Shining like the diamond in their logo, the Honeys captured the win with a final score of 110-178. Of the 178 points, #401 Trophy Knife sacked 42 points. Joining her were #6 Jetta Von Diesel and #88 Jamie Lee HurtUs with 33 points each. Of the Mob’s 110 points, #17 Goldie rolled in 43 points and Smashley with 39 points.
