Got Beer?

Got Beer? The Most Wonderful Time of the Beer: Crafts + craft beer = happy holiday shopping

Narragansett Beer’s Made on Honor Market is appropriately named after their award-winning Made on Honor video series; a web series dedicated to sharing the stories of craftsmen and craftswomen based in and around Rhode Island. With impressive Rhode Island roots spanning over an entire century, Narragansett Beer empathizes with the growing community of creators and entrepreneurs and have made it a point to give back to that community and support their growth through exposure and opportunity.

Narragansett has invited over 100 of these local vendors to be a part of their Holiday Market on November 23 & 24 at the WaterFire Center for the Arts. The expansive new venue makes the perfect location for a sip and shop with wide open spaces, larger-than-life windows, and best of all, off-street parking. Be sure to arrive early to have first pick from some of the best local goodies from vendors like Bad Taste PVD, Giraffes & Robots, In Your Ear Records, Blank Space Collection, The Collaborative and so many more. Of course Narragansett will be slinging their signature beer (to put the sip in sip & shop) and if that doesn’t do it for you, you can also enjoy a refreshment from Granny Squibb’s Iced Tea or get your caffeine fix from New Harvest Coffee. Food options will also be available from Hometown Poke, Durk’s BBQ, Vic’s Ice Cream and Matunuck Oyster Bar.

Buttonwoods Brewery has your one-stop-shop for Small Business Saturday with their 2nd Annual Holiday Bazaar, which takes place on November 30. Whether you’re shopping for handmade skincare, decor or jewelry, you’ll find what you’re looking for and then some.

Let’s talk vendors. Kacey Silvia with The Attic Project specializes in handcrafted jewelry for the ladies on your list. For the hard-to-shop-for pop culture fanatic in your life, there’s Liz Lirakis with Tracimoc who sells buttons, keychains, and other wearable gifts produced from recycled comic books. Pam Phinney with Plainville Homestead has handmade organic skincare for a happy and holistic holiday. And Seth Davis and Christopher Cleverly with Urban Fellow Barbershop & Shave Parlour offer a line of men’s hair, skincare and beard products that Santa himself would approve of.

Stay festive, not famished with beer from Buttonwoods, and food from Rogue on the Rhode while you shop. Rogue on Rhode Island will also be selling their own bottled sauces, provisions and spices for that savory seeker on your list.

We all know it’s tradition to leave Santa cookies and milk on Christmas Eve, but it’s 2019, and Santa could use an upgrade. This year let’s ditch those tired treats and give St. Nick something everybody wants: donuts and beer!

R&W Holiday Market with Long Live, Knead Donuts, and Far West is the first Holiday Market put on by Rooms & Works, and hopefully not the last. It takes place on December 7 on 55 Cromwell St in PVD, and between R&W, Knead Doughnuts, Far West and Long Live Beerworks, this is one neighborhood I can get down with. This event is a culmination of the talents of these Providence Meccas, as well as some talented artists including some of R&W’s own tenants. It’s no surprise that living in the midst of these great businesses would inspire creative entrepreneurs to pursue their own passions.

Prepare to stuff some stockings and your stomach with food from Providence Kitchen Collaborative, Knead Doughnuts and Good Egg Bake Shop. You’ll be crossing off your list fast with great gifts from vendors like E. Campanella Design Studios, Sweet Find Vintage, Above/Below Jewelry and RHD-RI. If all else fails, forget the stocking and fill a growler with anything on tap at Long Live; it surely won’t disappoint.

Let’s all agree on one thing: The notion that a gift card is a “lazy” gift is a thing of the past. Sure, $25 to the most common chain restaurant is a little boring — but a gift card that introduces a loved one to one of PVD’s hundreds of breweries or restaurants is a truly special kind of present. Sometimes you can even treat yourself by going this route with deals like the one at The Malted Barley. The Malted Barley is a staple in downtown Providence and they congregate some of the best local beer for their tap to serve alongside their out-of-this-world pretzels and pretzel sandwiches. Now through New Year’s Eve, you’ll get a $10 gift card with every $50 gift card purchase.

It’s the season of giving, and shopping small is a great way to give back to the community while discovering unique gifts for your loved ones. So what better way to get into the holiday spirit than shopping small with an ice cold beer in hand?
