Spring in the Stars: What does the season have in store for us?

“Spring is here, the grass is riz, I wonder where the flowers, is?

Spring arrived with a cluster of planets in Capricorn. These planets — Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto — in the horoscope of the arrival of spring fell in the 2nd and 3rd houses. The 2nd house pertains to money, the 3rd to traveling around town. The sign Capricorn and its ruler Saturn signifies contraction, restriction, fear and depression. This chart conveys the energy and atmosphere of this spring season. So, here we are, shut down, out of a job and socially isolated. All for the greater good.

In Mundane astrology, the astrology of events, the outer planets, the slow movers, pertain more to the collective than the individual. When they cluster together, they influence a broad spectrum of society. Mars, not a slow mover, but the planet of action, acts like a trigger as it rolls over the degree of the outer planets. In quick succession, beginning on March 20, Mars hit Jupiter, Pluto, then Saturn. They are all together in the sky, so it is no wonder that dramatic events took place.

There’s a humorous meme floating around on Facebook where all the signs have the same forecast, “You will be spending a lot of time at home.”  And it is true, this pandemic is not going to go away by Easter. But do not despair, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Around the time of the Spring Equinox, Saturn popped into Aquarius where he will hover around zero degrees until July 4 then slip back into Capricorn again. At the end of March, Mars moved into Aquarius as well, joining forces once again with Saturn. These two are the Greater and Lesser Malefic. Bad stuff. But once they start to separate and move apart, the pressure eases and the shift begins. These two activate the Aquarius energy. Aquarius brings logic, new ideas and innovation to the table. Fear drops away as we begin to look at things from a different perspective. This does not mean that we will be freed from our confinement. What it means is that common sense will prevail.

Uranus, the co-ruler of Aquarius, sits in the 6th house of disease in the spring chart. Uranus rules new technology. We see this energy already with hospitals revamping respirators, making them capable of assisting two patients instead of one. We will see more of this as time goes on because necessity is the mother of invention. Also, in the 6th house of this chart is Venus, strong in the sign she rules. While Venus rules love and money, she also rules blood. Venus is not aggressive, like Mars, she is attractive. She attracts to her. In the same sign as Uranus during this season, it bodes well for the trials that have commenced whereby scientists extract the antibodies from the blood of recovered patients in the hope that these antibodies will help the afflicted recover.

The Full Moon on April 7 will bring a ton of information. Take your time and sort through it. It will not be easy to figure out the fake from the real.  Try not to let your personal political views color your thought process.  Aquarius energy brings objectivity, so use that energy wisely. The energy is still concentrated in that third house, split between Capricorn and Aquarius; Saturn still rules the day. Remember, Saturn brings important lessons and rewards you when you do the right thing, although while this is happening you often wish you were someplace else.

At the New Moon on April 22, the energy shifts. The Sun is in Taurus, the impatience of Aries gives way to a more settled and practical atmosphere.  Folks dig in for the long haul. While money is tight and social isolation takes its toll, hope is in the air. Folks get creative in managing their lives, their families and their money. Unexpected events can help or hinder. Children and education for the K-12 gang benefit from that creativity.

The Full Moon in Scorpio on May 7 reminds us that we are part of the human race and as humans we are all in this together. There is no sugar coating, no pie in the sky. We need to hunker down and ride it out. The beacon of light shines from our universities, the big brains and heavy thinkers who are applying themselves to this problem. A breakthrough is possible, a new technology or treatment emerges.

The New Moon on May 22 brings new information and much conversation.  Sun and Moon are in Gemini, and Gemini does not like to stand still. This Gemini energy lightens us up and sparks our curiosity. We search for the news; we look for new ideas and we are eager to solve the puzzles life has put before us. This virus is the enemy, but now something about it has been revealed and we can begin to vanquish it.

June 5, the Full Moon falls across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis. Just when we think we are out of the woods, events pull us back slowing our forward motion. At this Full Moon, Mars, that rascal who kicked this off, is moving in on Neptune. Neptune in Pisces is the poster child for a mysterious virus.  Mars activating Neptune can kick off that virus again or some other unpleasantness. Gas or oil leaks, marine disasters, floods, fog, fraud and slander all belong to Neptune. On the positive side, folks get religion when Neptune comes calling. Their “Mother Theresa” comes out and they are capable of making selfless sacrifice. We are seeing it in our daily lives with grocery clerks, hospital personnel and anyone else who has to face the public during this time.

As we move into summer, we find inner strength, hidden talents and creative ways to get through our days. Human ingenuity never ceases to amaze. Be safe, be well and listen to the experts.
