Poetry

Bell St Poem (September 21)

walking from bell st. the sky is a warm and close
dusky blue
as usual, I think about
my head.
the blocks are cooling and dark
I have less to say to you.
there are books of poetry on the ground
“the unmappable now”
so deep blue.
if I am gentle
and by knowing my gentleness
you know yours
then take my face in your hand and turn it,
and press it back into the earth of
the rest of my life,
and before.
if you are gentle too
then help me go.
