Get Gored for Good and Support Amos House

If running with the bulls is on your bucket list, but your bucket isn’t full of enough funds to get you to Pamplona, PVD’s got you covered. On Sunday, April 29, Providence Roller Derby is teaming up with Amos House to put on an event that helps local men, women and children who are in crisis and helps you get a little taste of what it’s like to run with the bulls in Spain.

A chip-timed 5K course has been mapped out in downtown PVD that starts at the Convention Center and ends at Burnside Park where a Bulls Brunch will be served at the end of the race. This event is very family-friendly and is open to people of all athletic abilities — there’s even a short course available for those not up to a full 5K. Those who want an extra challenge can do both! Participating teams can run, walk or push strollers along the route, but they have to dodge the rollerbulls! The 40 participating rollerbulls are roller derby players from RI and surrounding states who will don their horns and skate among participants, trying to splatter them with red paint. All of the fun of Pamplona, with none of the goring!

Participating teams help Amos House by securing sponsors who will donate money to teams that successfully complete the course. A donation of just $100 can provide 100 meals in the Amos House soup kitchen, and a donation of $1,000 can provide utility assistance to 20 struggling families.

Rachel Colaiace of Amos House stressed how unique and fun this annual event is. “Every year, we get more participants,” she said. “And this year, we expect more of the same controlled chaos we get every year.”

Online registration for Get Gored for Good ends on April 26, but teams still can register in person on the morning of the event. For more information, go to getgoredforgood.com
