The three-time Tony Award winning theatrical experience LIFE OF PI will roar into PPAC starting next week – Tuesday, February 11 through Sunday, February 16. Lolita Chakrabarti’s stage adaptation of Yann Martel’s novel “Life of Pi” has become a global phenomenon with acclaimed engagements on Broadway, London’s West End and on tour in the UK. LIFE OF PI has been called “one of the most visually stunning shows I have ever seen” by Time Out and “a wonder to behold” by Entertainment Weekly. Its world-class puppetry has been described as “the single greatest innovation in puppetry ever to hit the global stage” by the New York Daily News.
LIFE OF PI tells the story of sixteen-year-old Pi, who is stranded on a lifeboat with four animal companions – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.
Inspired by the animals depicted in LIFE OF PI, PPAC has partnered with the Rhode Island SPCA, the Providence Animal Rescue League (PARL) and the Potter League to encourage people to “Adopt the Little Love of Your Life” and find the perfect companion for Valentine’s Day. Each organization will have a limited amount of LIFE OF PI tickets to gift as a thank you for the pets adopted before Valentine’s Day, February 14.
At the RISPCA, you could adopt the sweet & shy cat couple, Ingrid & Mackerel, a goofy four-year-old Terrier & Pitbull mix named Allister, or Willie the rabbit, whose favorite toy is a grey stuffed bunny plush. You can learn about them and other animals available for adoption at www.rispca.org
At the Providence Animal Rescue League, there’s Roger, a sweet and gentle domestic shorthair cat and Dream, an eight-month-old puppy who loves to play. If you are looking for “some bunny” to love, there’s cuddly Ollie, a Netherland Dwarf rabbit and Peewee, a playful and snuggly Palomino rabbit. Visit parl.org to see these sweeties and more!
The Potter League has the stunningly handsome dog, Sanders, an independent orange shorthair named Bette Midler, and a cute and fancy mouse called Butterfree. There are also bonded rabbit besties, Eloise and Pecan, who are available for adoption at Potter League’s off-site partner, Rumford Pet Express in East Providence. Visit potterleague.org to learn more and find your match!
