This summer, Mr. Orange Live, aka, Damont Combs, put on a poetry open mic event at Skye Gallery called Tell Your Truth, which, due to popular demand, became a monthly event.
“I decided to take on the task because we need a place to be able to express ourselves and to be real, truthful and honest with our community for the betterment of our community,” said Combs. “We had residents come on and tell us about really deep and hard moving topics such as racism, veteran suicides, gay stigmas, social justice topics and so much more. This open mic has led to open dialogue on many of the topics Providence residents have on their hearts and minds.”
Upcoming dates for Tell Your Truth are Sep 17, Oct 15, Nov 12 and Dec 17 from 6 – 8pm. Weather permitting, the open mic takes place outside the Skye Gallery at 381 Broadway, PVD.
