ArtBeat Benefit for AIDS Care Ocean State

artbeatArtBeat, the 17th annual fundraiser for AIDS Care Ocean State (ACOS), will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Biltmore in Providence on Friday, October 25. Several works of art from local artists will be up for auction, along with many other items such as jewelry, exotic vacations, and gift cards from local businesses.

Kim Zandy from 92Pro FM and Miss Kitty Litter will serve as emcees for the evening.

Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts, Speaker of the House Gordon Fox, and Providence Mayor Angel Taveras will serve as honorary chairs for the event. This year’s featured artist is Jonathan Luke O’Brien, who will discuss his work and inspirations at the event. Other artists include Mark Freedman, Arthur Moore, and Steve Weinberg. More than 200 items are available for viewing at the ACOS web site – www.aidscareos.org. One of the items up for bid is Crystal Domino by Steve Weinberg. It is valued at $1,000.

Last year, $41,000 was raised from the event. Stephen Hartley, director of development for ACOS, said this year’s goal is $45,000. The money raised will go toward the organization’s emergency assistance fund, as well as its HIV prevention and testing programs.

Tickets are $45 and include food and live entertainment.
