Being bold following ones heart and dreams was forever more precious now then ever.
AUDACIOUS has had an incredible journey since she took her first dance lesson at age 3. She found herself going from learning gymnastics, tap and ballet all the way to becoming an actress, dance instructor, go-go dancer, choreographer, burlesque dancer and 4x published runway model, with many successes, failures and challenges along the way.
“In 1991 I had a brief hospital stay when my left hip went septic not allowing me to walk,” AUDACIOUS explains. “After surgery and a long hospital stay, learned to walk again. I started attending Steps Off Broadway in 1993, which is where I first began competitive dance, stage acting, singing, and musical theatre.”
A natural performer, she started winning competitions at the age of 10 and being cast in plays and other dances. This continued all through high school and she planned of going to New York or Las Vegas to become a successful and full time performer. This hit a snag when she blew out her right knee right after graduating high school.
“It was pretty nerve wrecking to be at the top of your sport and then fall down to reality with injuries,” she explains. “It took me years to get back, taking only a few tap, jazz, heels and pole classes here and there.”
Fast forward 12 years to AUDACIOUS finding herself back in a dance studio, joining a chair dance group. She started doing burlesque the following year. She created her alter ego stage name in 2020 and threw herself into modeling and runway work. She has been published in multiple magazines and done fashion shows in RI, Massachusetts and New York. She built herself a reputation in the industry.
“Auditioning for shows out of Massachusetts and Rhode Island had helped me immensely to grow my name,” she says. “Putting myself out there, creating my own seat at a table, and traveling has helped me succeed. Putting my burlesque and acting performances on social media has helped me reach eyes out of the tri state, and across the globe! I’ve had opportunities offered to walk london and Paris fashion week, to networking with burlesque artists in the UK.”
AUDACIOUS says that her performances have been described as a lightning bolt of seduction and ethereal power. She adds that she floats with talent and charisma on any stage, captivating audiences and being known for her magnetic presence and undeniable talent. Her performances are a blend of seductive storytelling, alluring movement, and bold confidence that leave audiences spellbound.
“Folks, shout and look forward for more no matter what environment I’m seen in. And I love that! AUDACIOUS —the name says it all! AUDACIOUS brings infectious energy, sultry charm, and legs for days.”
AUDACIOUS took a some time away from traveling and performing to create a class called “Intro to Burlesque Series that she teaches at Fly Together Fitness Studio in MA. The class has been well received, with many sessions selling out.
“I’m a passionate dork raving over my students growth,” she says of teaching before mentioning the importance of taking breaks from her other endeavors. “I continue with each passion to take healthy breaks and then get back to traveling. Gotta have a balance.”
AUDACIOUS says that stage, dancing, teaching and runway are all artistically different, but she puts the same focus and attention to detail to every move she makes. After taking some time away to teach, she is resting and prepping for tassel twirling season. She is working on new costumes and routines that will be coming this spring. She knows that her performances only give her a brief moment of time to make and impression and inspire the audience.
“The adrenaline rush is also the same,” she says of her endeavors. “There is only one shot in a live performance, soI get anxious right before showtime but I snap into motion once the music hits. Nerves just melt away. You never know who is watching, and you never realize those you are inspiring. I’m proud of making a lasting impression with my art, while being told I making it look effortless. It took years to get to a level of confidence.
AUDACIOUS excitedly states that performance art is inclusive and not just for the body types portrayed in the media.
“Burlesque is for all bodies,” she exclaims “You don’t have to be in your 20s to be a model or professional dancer. You don’t need a manager or agency to make your goals reality. I became a sucessful independent runway model, print model, gogo dancer in my 30s. Ageism is out. Inclusivity is in!”
AUDACIOUS has other plans in addition to teaching and her regular performance mediums.
“I’ve made time to collaborate with other local artists, working on a biography book, and finished working on a movie. I’m hoping to get more behind the lens and model this season. With the state of the world I’ve been shutting down. It’s important more than ever to use our art, voices to unite and lift up.
AUDACIOUS describes herself as an Aquarius caring passionate dancing dork with a limitless story to tell, and an open heart to helping others.
“I’m defined by what I do and how I leave others feeling,” she concludes. “I hope to inspire folks to know there’s no limits to what they can accomplish. Whether you’ve had an easy life, or a difficult journey. Anybody has the power to dream and make the wildest of their dreams happen. I’m proof.”
