This Saturday morning will begin with a lovely pancake breakfast in a beautiful restored barn from the 1800s. There will be juice, coffee and fruit as well. Feel free to bring any other toppings your heart desires. However, do not forget a water bottle and maybe a snack for the hike. This trail is a bit more rigorous than other refuges so be sure to wear proper footwear as well. Laura Carberry, Audubon Naturalist, is leading participants on a 7 mile hike through the beautiful Parker Woodland full of historical sites and wildlife. She will be able to point out specific plants, birds and other discoveries in the natural surroundings. Bring your camera if you have an eye for photography. This time of year, you may happen upon wood ducks, deer, hen of the woods, and the neighboring Turkey Meadow Brook. Dress in layers to be well suited for the changing weather. If there is a downpour, a rain date will be determined.
Take Route 102 onto Maple Valley Road. At the second left you will see a sign for the Nature Center (this is the restored barn). Turn into the parking lot. And we’ll see you there!
