Mr. Orange

Damont Combs a poet from Southside Jamaica Queens NY and a graduate with a degree in Computer Technology Service from Johnson and Wales University. Mr. Combs otherwise known as Mr. Orange Live has released two books of poetry: My Poem... My Riddle, (Prysmatic Dreams Publishing, 2015) and Damont Combs presents A Touch of Orange. (Kingdom Enterprise LLC, 2016) Mr. Orange’ has noted the brightly colored color touring national in multiple cities and venues such as New York City- Nassau Coliseum, 7th,8th and 9th annual poetry festival, bowery and Nuyorican poets café. Texas at Nothing but poetry live, and Magnolia Sous le pont, and here at home in RI at Got poetry, Café S.o.u.l and many more states and places. Mr. Combs was featured on Cable TV for September and October of 2018 for Poets and Poems hosted by Lenore Rheaume. He also had two amazing interviews on Go Local Providence with Katie Nagle. He also been featured in the providence monthly (2018 march edition) and Ocean state magazine (2019 February edition) and Motif Magazine (August, September 2019 edition) and featured on the front page of the Kent times newspaper for his tribute poetry to 9/11 memorial in 2019. Mr. Combs is active in many writing organizations in his communities such as What Cheer writers club, the Association of Rhode Island Authors as the Co-host of Lively Literati (monthly open mic). He is also active in multiple communities such as Langston Hughes Poetry committee as their Poet in Residence and resident teaching artist, and 1st annual Providence book festival Committee. He also works in Pawtucket working with the youth participating and planning different events such as Galway Kinnell youth poetry slam, Anti-tobacco 5th graders youth poetry slam, and featured in the 2019 Pawtucket arts festival in multiple events dealing with the youth and more. He believes in bridging the gap of pay inequality for poets compared to other careers. He is passionate about bringing open mics back into the community so artist can have a place to flourish. In 2019 he created an open mic to serve his community called Tell your Truth. It is hosted at Skye gallery. He brings together the community through honest conversation through art and dialogue with award winning global modern artwork for sale by Skye gallery. . His books are available in Providence RI at Books on the Square, Cellar Stories bookstore, Brown University Bookstore, and Johnson and Wales Bookstore, In Pawtucket at Stillwater bookstore. Mr. Comb’s books are also available online at mrorangelive.com or on amazon.   Mr. Combs has won the indie author legacy award for 2018 Poet of the year. His dedication to his community work, excellent book reviews, and media exposure lead him to win competing against over 800 other artist.
