Organization Description:
Motif is a free alt-paper dedicated to the arts and entertainment in Rhode Island and surrounding areas, and to bringing readers alternative local news about subjects of all kinds. Motif was founded in 2004 to help bring to light some of the amazing music, art, and culture happening around Rhode Island that escapes coverage by mainstream media.

Motif is advertising supported and distributed twice a month to over 1,000 locations around RI, and weekly to over 20,000 online readers.

Job Description:
Freelance writers will cover their area of interest/expertise in any of Rhode Island’s creative communities, or various topics relating to the Rhode Island area at large. We especially need coverage of local music shows, food, humor writing, and news. Writers can bring their own article ideas, or work with our editorial team to find suitable topics.

There are two issues published per month, and writers are compensated per published article.
