R1 Tracks Upward

It’s a walking tour of the brand new track at Lincoln’s R1 Indoor Karting. Founder and track creator (and retired Dutch auto racing legend) Mike Hezemans walked reporters around the challenging multi-level new track, which they constructed over nine days, with crews of a dozen working round the clock. Requests to have their construction team redeployed to fix a certain bridge in East Providence have not yet been addressed.

The new track is a little sticker — allowing for more traction and speeds up to 30mph for adults (there are lower speed settings for younger racers). It features a giant black-light mural of a dystopian future Providence skyline, three levels of serpentine track and 14 turns, accommodating up to 18 racers simultaneously. The new observation angles also help spectators feel close to the action. The construction was overseen by 360 Karting from Slovenia, who construct tracks worldwide.

“We are constantly thinking about how we can provide a fun and stand out experience for our customers. It’s incredible to be in the running for the best family entertainment center in the country. From our newly renovated multi-level track to the incredible TimeMission, Dart City, Axe Bar and Arcade we really pride ourselves in providing quality entertainment for all ages.” said Hezemans.
