The Power of Clothing

As a self-proclaimed fashionista, I can confirm that not many things on this planet beat the feeling you get when you construct a killer outfit. Putting on an outfit that you feel confident and stylish in can make a world of difference when it comes to your mindset, confidence, and productivity. There is an undeniable “look good, feel good” effect that occurs when you’re dressed the way you love. When you’re dressed in the way that makes you feel confident, your mental health is greatly boosted, which sets you up for success.

One example in which clothing can be a great source of power is when it comes to productivity, both at home and in the workplace. Putting on a fire outfit for work can not only make you feel so much more ready to conquer the day, but it can make you far more motivated to complete tasks. When you feel great and powerful in your outfit, you honestly feel like you can take over the world, so typing up that report for your boss is a piece of cake! Having on your favorite outfit outside of work can motivate you to go get those errands done that you’ve been putting off: go get that oil change, go through the car wash, strut around Market Basket in style.

Outwardly, clothing is powerful in that you are able to enhance the impressions you make on others. When you look and feel put together, you’re able to put a great foot forward when meeting new people, socializing with others, or even passing people on the street. This can be especially empowering at work; I’ve often heard the phrase “Dress for the job you want, not the job you have,” which has always stuck with me. If you dress like a CEO, you feel like a CEO. And if you act like said CEO, you can manifest a profitable, rich life (in more ways than just money).

With all of this being said, you can be empowered by clothing without being dressed in a full suit or fancy garb everyday. If you have a pair of leggings that makes you feel great, wear those. If you have a sweater that you love because it compliments your eyes, wear that. If you have a belt you love to wear because it’s been passed down in your family, wear that. Dressing to look and feel good is different for everyone, and you should wear what you love. When you love what you wear, it shows.
