The primary election for Rhode Island’s first congressional district’s special election takes place on September 5, but why wait? Have an easy breezy voting experience and vote early. Early voting for registered Rhode Island first district-ers begins Wednesday, August 16.
This special election will nominate candidates to replace outgoing representative David Cicilline, who resigned in May 2023 to become president and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation. The general election takes place on November 7.
The first congressional district covers Bristol, Newport, and Providence counties. Registered voters in these counties may cast early votes up until 4pm on September 4.
