The national tour of Hamilton is on its way to Providence, with performances starting next Wednesday on December 11 and running through Sunday, December 22 at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC). This will be the second return engagement of Hamilton at PPAC; the Theatre has presented the cultural phenomenon in 2019 and 2021.

In approximately three hours, Hamilton tells the epic saga of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton as he fights for honor and love and creates a legacy that would shape the course of our nation. Based on Ron Chernow’s biography, A. Hamilton’s story is told through a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway. Hamilton features book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire.

Here are a few ways you can be “room where it happens” at PPAC when Hamilton is in town. Tickets for Hamilton can purchased at the PPAC Box Office window at 220 Weybosset Street in Providence, online at https://www.ppacri.org/events/detail/hamilton and by phone at 401.421.ARTS (2787).

Make sure to turn your phone notifications “on” because winners for each week will be notified on Thursday, between 1pm and 4pm. If you are selected, you’ll have 2 hours to claim your tickets; you can purchase up to 2 tickets for the lottery.

Hamilton has been called “a theatrical landmark” by The New York Times and “the greatest American musical in decades” by Time Out. The Guardian said that “Hamilton is the kind of transformative theatrical experience that has only happened a few times in the history of American musicals.” It has won 11 Tony Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, a Grammy®, Olivier Awards, and a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.

Hamilton will be “in the house” at PPAC from December 11 – 22; come and meet them inside.
