Yakim Parker, who moved to RI from New York in 2000, describes his work as going “Beyond Eons”. These two words are appropriate in describing Parker’s seemingly infinite passion for creation, which makes it just as appropriate that “Beyond Eons” be the name of Parker’s production company.
Parker has had a strong love for music creation since he was young, taking inspiration from R&B and Jazz. In his formative years, he would create music tracks using his Playstation 2. He seems to be a jack-of-all-trades, working as a filmmaker, music composer, actor, editor, MC, and the list goes on. But his biggest passion and main driving force after all these years still lies in creating instrumental music, sometimes teaming up with a vocalist. Parker seems to have a special knack for collaboration, able to hop into any role needed to get a project going and to motivate groups or individuals in an artistic project. Parker was drawn to how a director could create bonds within a cast of people, “Seeing the behind the scenes of how different directors put together an assembly of people who may or may not know each other and by the end a kinship was formed.” He described the whole process as “beautiful”. It’s evident when talking to him that Parker has great reverence for the collaborative process. He is an extremely charismatic and personable human being which no doubt is part of what makes him such a powerful collaborative artist. Parker has dedicated his own time to helping youth theater programs in the summer, just another way he lifts up others in the arts community.
Parker recounts being closer to the professor’s age than to his fellow classmates when he attended New England Institute of Technology; many adults who start their secondary education later can relate. His passionate and hard-working nature that defines his art today showed in his academics where he graduated with honors, earning both a bachelors and an associates degree. For his final project at New England Tech, Parker’s assignment was to create a company – this is where he conceptualized and launched his production company, “Beyond Eons Production LLC.” Originally a launching point for his own works, over the past couple of years it has spun off into multiple projects featuring Rhode Island voices and talent, and unique shows which can be found on a host of different radio and cable networks, as well as the Beyond Eons YouTube channel, which Parker operates and edits.
As for why he chose to work in Rhode Island and stage his production company in Providence, his answer was one that many local artists would likely relate to. After hopping around several states, from North Carolina to Massachusetts, he sees the city of Providence as many of us do, as a “city of arts.”
The most impressive thing about Parker, apart from his versatility as an artist, is his work ethic. In the year 2025 alone, Yakim produced six albums: The Lo-Fi Theory, Return to Lo-Fi, Beyond Eons Beats, Galactic House, Black Magic, and color blind. In that same year he also released three singles and EPs with “It Ain’t Over,” “IYKTWA,” and “The Mix.” All of his work can be found on Spotify as B.E.P Music. Parker’s latest album is called Freedom which is the first of three that he plans to release in 2026. The album represents the stigma of freedom of speech, he says we get muffled by our thought processes. “Freedom” as he puts it, is about, “The core of what you feel.” The album, according to Parker, is meant to be his escape from the way artists are expected to make music, hence the title “Freedom.” Just like many of his previously released albums the cover art for Freedom was done by Parker himself. Parker is heavily into the design aspects and visuals for his work.
The next installment is titled Individuality, described as the next stage of freedom, understanding oneself, leading to the final album titled Transformation, the fully realised version of oneself (in this case, Parker).
Parker’s goals for the new year seem to be taking a step back, although not completely, from the producer side of things. He expresses a desire to get back into the hands-on production of his own artistic endeavors. Among the three albums which he has labeled as the F.I.T project, he will be getting back into directing his documentary, Color Blind. The doc is an autobiographical piece focusing on Parker’s day-to-day life after his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis. It is a testament to his fearlessness in bringing personal stories and emotions to the surface in order to tell a story. Despite his impressive output of projects thus far, he feels he hasn’t even scratched the surface for his artistic desire. •
