For all ages, Jazz, To do in Rhode Island

The true versatility of the saxophone will be showcased in a free concert presented by the University of Rhode Island’s Department of Music that offers a wide range of music from classical to jazz. Concert performers will include The Chris Botelho/ Taylor Allen/ Collin Larkin/ Katie Hollowell Quartet and The Ben Marcoux/ Mike Grenier/ Dave Murphy/ Chris DeLouis Quartet. The quartet pieces range from an Orlando Gibbons piece from the 1500s to a very contemporary saxophone quartet by Ed Jackson with modern jazz sounds. The program will also include solo pieces by Ben Marcoux and Chris DeLouis, a jazz duet with Dave Murphy, and a classical duet performed by Mike Grenier and Chris Botelho. All are members of the URI Saxophone Studio, directed by Jared Simms.

The URI Concert Hall is handicap-accessible, and parking is available in the lot behind the Fine Arts Center, off Bills Road. Concert will be held in Room C-100.
