Okee dokee folks… Parking. That is what is on my mind today. In my opinion, if a venue – or any business for that matter – does not take easy parking access into consideration as part of their operating scheme, then they are missing the big picture. Nowhere is this more important than in this […]
Okee dokee folks… Oftentimes I receive press releases about an artist/band that I have never heard of. I click the links that lead me to websites and social media pages. The first thing that I usually see are the photographs. If it’s a band, it’s usually some oddly posed group shot with the members trying […]
Okee dokee folks… I want to thank everyone who attended, performed, volunteered and donated to this year’s Rhode Island Folk Festival; it was an amazing day! If you missed it then mark your calendars for next year’s festival that will happen on Sunday, August 30, at Crescent Park in East Providence; you will want to […]
Okee dokee folks… Legendary folk-rocker, Neil Young, brought his new band, The Chrome Hearts, and his Love Earth Tour to the Bank New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford on Thursday, August 21, for the only New England date of the tour. Young debuted the Chrome Hearts at last year’s Farm Aid concert in Saratoga, NY. The […]
Okee dokee folks… WBRU used to be my favorite radio station. I would always hear an eclectic mix of music played and I was introduced to many new artists this way. I listened to that station for decades. I would always tune in while driving or working on outdoor projects. It was sad when they […]
Okee dokee folks… In 1994 I produced the first Hear In Rhode Island music festival. Though I had worked other fests before, this was my first time producing one on my own. Originally this was a big showcase for members of the Rhode Island Songwriters Association. It was quite the undertaking. Back then I was […]
Okee dokee folks… AS220 is celebrating 40 years, and 40 years ago I played my first real gig at AS220 in Providence. Up until then, I had only performed in front of people at a couple of house parties and when I auditioned for “The Gong Show” at Warwick Mall, but I don’t count those. […]
Okee dokee folks…While setting up for my show the other day I had a conversation with the sound person about music. I was shocked to find out that he didn’t think much of a lot of today’s music. As surprised as I was, I agreed with him. He is 25 years old and I never […]
Okee dokee folks… Summer is officially here, my least favorite time of the year. Look, Mom, I made a rhyme! It’s the heat and humidity. If it didn’t get so stupidly hot then I might like summer. Climate change is really taking hold on the planet and you can deny it all you want but […]
Okee dokee folks… Some of you may know that I have started performing a Cat Stevens tribute called CatMoonShadow. I do this in spite of never having seen Cat play live. Not for lack of wanting to. Back in the mid 1970s he came to the Providence Civic Center on his Majikat Earth tour. I […]
