Remember the early ’00s, grasping a sticker-clad plastic guitar and trying to beat all your friends on a now classic game Guitar Hero? What songs do you remember playing? Along with the classics like “Slow Ride,” I remember playing “Headstrong” by Trapt — a fight song anthem or motivational gym playlist must-have. But better then playing that game is seeing those bands live. Get ready!
Some of your favorite new millennium post-grunge bands are headed to Pierce Memorial Stadium in East Providence July 23 – 24 for a two-day, family-friendly festival with amusements and rides for the kids and a beer, wine and food festival for the grown-ups! Plenty of food trucks will be there, including one of my favorites, Friskie Fries, along with dozens of vendors displaying everything from tattoos to Harleys (so bring your leather jacket!).
Headliners are Fuel, Trapt and 12 Stones. Also performing are local artists such as The James Montgomery Band, Steve Smith and the Nakeds, Jon Butcher Axis, Charlie Farren, The Delta Generators and more!
I’m very excited for Fuel. Even though they have hits from just around my beginnings, I enjoy the 1998 album Sunburn with the popular Top 40 hit, “Shimmer;” and you can’t forget the platinum hit “Hemorrhage (In My Hands)”. And 12 Stones! I remember them from the MySpace days when you could have a profile song on your page. “Lie to Me” was one of my songs after a silly grade school breakup. I’m sure everyone can relate, and some of these bands bring memories flooding back when the chorus or the kinetic lyrics hit.
So pause your Spotify for a weekend and come live up this rock and fun fest!
