Croptoberfest 2023: A celebration of cannabis & community

Motif has been eagerly planning to do a cannabis event since the moment legalization was announced (and look out for some Cannabis Awards next year). The first one took place on October 28, produced in partnership with Mother Earth Wellness and The MET and co-sponsored by R1 Indoor Karting.

That Saturday was the number one Halloweekend day this year for events, parties and activities. Over 300 aficionados, dancers and party-hoppers turned out to the legendary venue that is The MET. Loud Cultivators, Mammoth Inc, Talaria, Hangar 420, Livity, Full Circle, Cultivating RI, East Coast Cultivators, SaltPond Pathways, Ocean State Cannabis Co, RI’s Finest, Zen Blend Farms, and Tier 401 were some of the cultivators present at the event giving away prizes such as joint gift cards, lighters, stickers, T-shirts, hats and lots of other interesting paraphernalia. Attendees throughout the night could go out to the consumption area and try out new goodies.

The first part of the evening focused on the cultivators, to the musical stylings of DJ Matt Carry, and with Mother Earth keeping spirits high and the party rolling. That’s when Third Party Events’ burlesque group stepped on stage to a crowded dance floor of hoots and hollers. One by one, like victims in a good old slasher film, four performers put on horror burlesque performances that made the audience scream. Third Party performers Jane Doe, Belle Gunz, Dahlia Strack, and Lopez La Lopez dressed up as horror entities like vampires and creepily sexy clowns to work up the crowd before baring it all. Ginny Nightshade kept the crowd rowdy as the group’s MC.

There was a scavenger hunt, bobbing for pumpkins, and some pretty creepy paraphernalia, all followed by VIP after party, with gift cards for Mother Earth Wellness (open late and just a few blocks away) and high-energy musical performances by Lee Ross, Music Awards favorite Guess Method and a debut performance by brand new duo See What Happens, who lived up to their name with a feast of danceable tunes. The evening also featured munchies by Espanglish and a costume contest in which The Queen of Hearts narrowly beat out Chucky and Tiffany.

Watch this space for future canna-friendly events – Motif has high hopes for more coming up. In all, it was a night to remember – but not too clearly.
