May’s energy will be bringing a wave of open-hearted reprieve for those who are willing to settle into the simplification of pleasure, connection, and new opportunities. Our tarot cards for the month are the Ace of Cups and the Two of Cups, two cards signifying a wellspring of inspiration and love. On their own, these cards speak highly to meaningful, heartfelt connections and ideas, and with the Knight of Pentacles traveling between them, there is a deepened awareness of new levels of personal progress and possibility.
There is a physical bringing or giving of something with this archetype, and as a knight, there is a strong sense of mission and devotion. The Knight of Pentacles walks forward from the inner heart space carrying intention like a torch to light the fellow fires of those they love. They trust the fruits of their labor to be shared and adored. They keep on keeping on with gentle, unshakable faith and the confidence of a Clydesdale. For some of us, the threshold between feeling universal love within ourselves and sharing it with those around us, especially those we care about, may seem unknown or daunting. How do we even begin? If you read the March forecast, I wrote about the necessary violence of Spring, the way the first buds and blades have to burst through seemingly impossible layers of darkness and soil. The deeper poetry in this is that it’s the flowers who show up for this vital act of creation. The softest, most colorful, most delicate of plants are the way-showers of immense growth and change. Explore this tenderness if you’re wondering how to bridge this gap. Find the desire and the resistance in wanting to share more of yourself with the world. Sit in the sun with it, warm yourself. Flowers naturally grow towards the light, and suddenly, against all odds, they break through into the glory of spring, of shared adoration. You can’t rip open your own petals. Melt, melt, melt into the sunshine spilling all around you and let it grow your blessings.
The beauty within this process doesn’t negate any personal challenges or collective heartbreak. Tenderness is a tool that can liberate us from the confines of our conditioning. This energy is present especially when life feels overwhelming, stagnant, uncertain. Investing in the tenderness of vulnerability and connection will bring blue skies and light hearts. And if you’re in the twilight of this transition, relish the golden hues – magic hour is often the most memorable part of a connection. •
