Lemonade Stand: from annual concert to summer series

Symbolic of grass roots entrepreneurism, the three-year old concert series that takes place in 195 District Park returns in quadruplicate this year.

The Lemonade Stand began as a small, music-focused outing in 2024, the brainchild of Liam Anastasia-Murphy and Eva Okrent.

This year it will be staged on Saturday, May 16; Friday, June 12; Saturday, July 18; and Saturday, August 29. The events will feature activities to bring the arts to life. Live music, of course, but also a collaborative mural, open art making, button making and a photo booth. Food trucks and art vendors put the icing on this summery cake.

“The Lemonade Stand is about more than just music and art — it’s about creating spaces where creativity thrives and community comes alive,” says co-founder Okrent. “We’re proud to showcase the incredible talent in Providence and beyond while giving audiences a place to connect, play, and be inspired.”

Eva and Liam are themselves working artists, and sought an occasion of their own to “uplift artists and communities alike.” “Collaborative environments don’t just support artists, they energize entire communities,” says Anastasia-Murphy. “Bringing this joyful, grassroots festival to Providence is our way of sharing that spark.”

Some well known local performers will be spreading the spirit this year, including Hawk in the Nest, Olivia Dolphin, Surnames, Gretchen Fields, Birdstick, Space Cowboy Newt, Margeaux Lynn, Coe Street Co-op, Spirit Ghost, Justice Cow, Indira, Courtney Swain, Brooke Annibale, and Polly Bessette. Boston-based Zion Rodman and Safe Journey, and Portland-based Corey Wrinn will also be found at the Lemonade Stand.

Local illustrators Lumuku, known for their colorful work along PVD’s waterfront, and muralist Rebecca Pry, will also be showing work. Other local artisans will include Juliana Conti Designs, Katarina Roi, Secret Glass Agency, Siren and Saint Vintage, Abaigeal Wright, Hot Fluff, and more, roughly 6 vendors at each outing.
