Joseph E Paye led the original Supreme Satellite Band around West Africa from 1987 to 1993 until civil wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone disrupted life and travel, causing the band to scatter to various countries and refugee camps. While in a refugee camp in Guinea, Paye was reunited with old friends and bandmates from Supreme Satellite, The Emperors, Sierra Afrique and Black Fire Posse, who would later form Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars. Paye fortunately traveled to the United States in 2004 as a part of the US Refugee Resettlement Program, and ten years later has US citizenship and a re-formed Supreme Satellite Band celebrating their latest release, Peace.
