An All-New, Reimagined “The Bodyguard the Musical” Returns to PPAC October 23 – 25, 2026

A reimagined production of the international, award-winning musical The Bodyguard will arrive at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC), October 23 – 25, 2026, as part of the Theatre’s 2026/2027 *Encore Series.

Based on the 1992 film starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, The Bodyguard the Musical features a host of unforgettable classics including “Queen of the Night,” “So Emotional,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “Saving All My Love For You,” and “One Moment in Time,” among others.

The story follows former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect superstar singer Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. While both are determined to remain in control of the situation, neither expects their professional relationship to evolve into a romance.

“There’s something incredibly special about The Bodyguard the Musical,” said director Samantha Saltzman. “It’s a story audiences have loved for over 30 years, paired with some of the most iconic songs in music history. We’re honoring that legacy while creating a production that feels fresh, emotional, and deeply human on stage. It’s the music you love, the story you remember, and a production that lets you experience it in a whole new way.”

The production stars Brooke Bailey as Rachel Marron and Jonathan Blansfeld as Frank Farmer. Erica Burkett may perform the role of Rachel Marron at select performances.

The principal cast also includes:

  • Andrea Simpson as Nicki Marron
  • Keyshawn Brian Steele as Tony Scibelli
  • Anthony S. Goolsby as Bill Devaney
  • Ethan Hall as The Stalker
  • Riki Stevens as Sy Spector

The role of Fletcher will be performed by Carmelo Kelly or Shiloh Prendergast at select performances.

The ensemble features Cedric Jamaal Greene, Cydney Heard, Tanner Jarrett Kirol, Joe Love, Lucy Mangion, Yurika Ono, Camal Pugh, Courtney Genoveva Saffold, Samantha Scott and Scott Willits.

Originally produced in London’s West End by Michael Harrison and David Ian, The Bodyguard made its North American premiere at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse in 2016. A US national tour followed in 2017, bringing the production to 42 cities across the country, including Providence. Nearly a decade after its previous engagement at PPAC, audiences will once again have the chance to experience the musical’s blend of suspense, romance and iconic music. Over the years, productions of the musical have been staged in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, South Korea and Australia, as well as a West End revival.
