An Attitude For a Good Reason

Nika Zhara Lomazzo is preparing to kick off her comedy tour again this spring, and she is bringing her attitude for a very good reason: her upcoming show Nothing But An Attitude will be a fundraiser event for Rhode Island Pride.

Known as Nika Z to local comedy-goers, this sharp-witted PVD native has been delighting fans with her hilarious sketch and standup comedy shows all over PVD. “The first time I ever did stand-up, I stood there in cowboy boots at Upright Citizens Brigade and talked about my new sex reassignment surgery,” Nika reminisced. She assures fans will get another dose of her pithy humor in the upcoming show, too. “I find humor in the gritty and raw — from mental illness, to being a trans woman, to just being an unapologetic mess,” Nika explained.

Rhode Island Pride vice president Ray Cirico is also thrilled to see Nika’s comedy show get added to the list of fundraisers being hosted this year to help the nonprofit organization. “It’s always a great feeling when local artists want to help and her show is a wonderful contribution,” he commented.

Nothing But An Attitude is Nika’s fourth headlining performance here in PVD. However, it will be a bittersweet show for her because Nika plans to move to New York City in the fall to take her comedy career to the next level. “People keep asking me how long I’ll last in New York, so I think I’ll die there just to prove a point,” she joked confidently about her upcoming venture.

Local Providence comedian Stine An will be opening the fundraiser comedy show at AS220 on Apr 27.. The show beings at 7pm and will run for 90 minutes. One dollar from each ticket purchased will go to Rhode Island Pride. Please go to Nika Z’s Facebook page for more information.
