New chapters are being constantly written in the quest to become a published author. RI has an embarrassment of riches, and hundreds of authors who have achieved the impressive landmark of getting published spread their wordy wares for public consumption at a pair of robust book expos last month.
First, the author fair at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket, coordinated by Book Around and incorporating food trucks and live music hosted several dozen local authors. The Association of Rhode Island Authors (ARIA) then held their expo, rescheduled from its traditional December outing, at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.
The variety of books written by Rhode Islanders is truly remarkable. Some are awful, some may be your new favorite read. Every one represents a topic, history, or passion that some author put a huge amount of time, effort and care into. The topics stretch far and wide too, from memoirs to motocross, family histories to romantic fantasies, horror to home improvement. These authors are still out there after the expos, and most love talking about their work, so keep your eyes open for individual talks and readings.
