A growing trend toward THC-infused drinks is making itself known nationally, and in RI it’s stirring regulatory waters. It looks like the Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) in RI intends to revise some restrictions to make it hard to find, consume or sell liquid canna products. Right now, a THC beverage can be sold at local liquor stores, if the THC is a byproduct of hemp. If it’s a byproduct of cannabis, it can only be sold at a licensed dispensary. As for consuming at a bar, a number of establishments put in for licenses, but you have to check them individually to see if such bevvies are available – as that set of regulations could be changing. The CCC does publish a well-concealed list of establishments that may carry hemp-based, THC-infused products. It’s predominantly head shops and liquor stores, and of course dispensaries, but you’ll find bars and restaurants (like Julians in PVD, Eli’s on Block Island, or the Pub at 2-Mile Corner in Middletown).
