I recall being judged by the way I dressed. I was heavily influenced by music and my attire was a representation of that. I had a period of time when I dressed like the others in my junior class. This feeling of wanting to fit made me miserable. Is this relatable? Dressing with the trends to avoid scrutiny. Being told you’re too old, too young, too short or tall, and any other age and body shaming is BS, biased societal insecurity. Hopefully, you are free from others; opinions and dressing as you wish. Conformity makes us feel we fit in, though. I am not a fashionista. Are you tall, have an exceptionally lean build, and very little muscle mass? No? Me neither. So, there’s probably little to no opportunity for becoming a runway model. We can take a chance on revamping our look. It can be as simple as finding a statement piece. Something locally sourced and easy to pour into. Are you thinking what I am thinking? Here are some fashionable beers to try on.
Want to go to one of the most prodigious festivals that is crawling with celebrities? Coachella has been a style-setting event for fashion since 1999. The 2026 event is sold out and the resale tickets are $2000 – $7000. If you don’t have that cash to spend, there’s a more affordable solution. Since the ’70s, the annual craze at this art and musical event has been boho with a Western flare. This year, a touch of Y2K metallics has been added. Grab your cowboy hat, fringe boots, lace skirt, or bootleg jeans. Don’t have any metallic? A 16-oz aluminum can of Canna Culture from Long Live Beerworks is the perfect accessory. This Imperial Double IPA pours a hazy, muted, orange color with a foamy head. There is an aroma of bright citrus, pine, and cannabis. It is made with hops from Terpene Belt Farms that are immersed with (non-THC) cannabis terpenes, lending its flavors of pine, pepper, a slight touch of peach, and tangy kiwi. It is not overly bitter and perfectly balanced. Spark it up! Sounds like a perfect outfit to me.
You can never go wrong wearing all black. The monochromatic look makes everyone look longer, leaner, and put together. No closet crisis is involved because I know that, like me, 50% of your wardrobe consists of black. Finishing this look with Little Dark Edge from Origin Beer Project is a no-brainer. This is a 4% ABV Stout. It pours pitch black and has a thick, tan, foamy head. There is hazelnut, dark coffee, and cacao aroma on the nose. The front-end sip has roasted coffee and malt, vanilla, and hazelnut. This finishes with a touch of unsweetened dark chocolate. Throw on a black leather jacket and some blackout sunglasses. This is a rock & roll look for a super dope beer!
Maybe you want to cazh out. The question is business or laid back. There is no wrong answer because both are modish. Let’s have a pint and think about it. Where? Narragansett Brewery, of course! A pint of Fresh Catch Blonde Ale is being poured, and a catch we are with a graphic tee, straight leg jeans, and Chuck Taylors. If this is a little laid back, add a button-down shirt and a blazer. Sipping on this crisp, golden, hazy pour is relaxing. There is citrus and a touch of pine on the nose that follows through to the palate. There is just a touch of malt with a delicious balance of hoppy bitterness. The 4% ABV makes this crushable and allows you and me to have another.
There’s a vogue style that finds some celebrities wearing underwear as outerwear. It’s the naked dress look that involves sheer apparel with optional undergarments. Do you favor boxers, briefs, or thongs? This look leaves nothing to the imagination. All flaws revealed would leave me feeling too self-conscious for this. It’s going to take a strong pint to be this scantily clad. A West Coast IPA from Taproot Brewing Company should help. Not only is this an 8% ABV, but it will please the palate of those who prefer a sweeter Westie. There is citrus and pine on the nose that follows through with light bitterness on the front-end palate. Sweet orange and malt are dominant with a slight hop that peaks through just a bit on the end sip. Naughty is the name, and it’s available only on draft right now. I am pretty sure there is a dress code here, so bring a long coat.
My favorite expression of style is retro: any style from the past. It’s fun to put a little spin on it. Pin up dresses with a denim jacket and chunky shoes. Mousquetaire gloves with a tank top and fitted dress trousers. Lace vintage top with leather shorts and thigh-high wedge boots. Anything goes! Executing this with Buttonwoods Brewing Retro Innovation is the best way to crown this look. It is an English-style Bitter on nitro. It has a hazy, amber-colored pour with a substantial off-white head and light lacing. Notes of malt and bready biscuits come through from the nose to the front-end palate. This is followed by sweet caramel and floral herbal hops that finishes with a touch of black tea flavor. This will make you pose, pivot, and turn back for another!
Being a professional fashion model would probably mean you would have to give up drinking craft beer. I would rather try on a beer and see if it fits. Strut what you got, and please support local craft beer!
