230th Bristol Fourth of July Celebration: Party like it’s 1785! One could argue that Rhode Island, the first colony to declare independence from England, has bragging rights to the best Independence Day celebrations in the country. This event is the oldest continuous Independence Day celebration in the US. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and cold beverages to stay cool and hydrated while enjoying the celebration! 4th Annual Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence: Travel back to July 4, 1776 and hear what the Founding Fathers declared for the original 13 colonies. Reading will be conducted near the WWI Doughboy Statue at Stone Bridge. There will be a limited number of copies available to read from, so feel free to bring your very own Declaration or don’t (you little rebels!).
