Rhode Island-based writer, musician, producer, teacher, and multi-media artist Lily Rhodes released her Debut EP titled I Don’t Need You Now, on August 8. Rhodes’ recent release blends a heavy mix of electronic and folk influences.
The song “Lost In The Forest” brings a rugged and energetic mix blending off-tune folk guitar melodies with head-bobbing, heavy-hitting drums, echoed keys, and sawtooth synths glued together with a simple and catchy lead. “I Don’t Need You” is a blend of smooth reverberated keys, punchy chords, and folksy off-kilter sustained vocals, creating a contagiously smooth indie dance/electronica track.The closing track “Dance Away” highlights Rhodes’ immense vocal talent, utilizing heavy vocal chops to create a seamless and smooth melody mixed with punchy, sustained synthesizers, and lo-fi drums infusing a great mix of synth-pop and indie influences.
Rhodes graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. Rhodes was also featured on RI PBS’s Ocean State Sessions in 2023. Rhodes was also nominated for “Emerging Artist”at the 2023 RI Folk Festival.
