The Dark Arts

IMG_5890Eager to get your spook on? Now’s your chance to check out HeARTspot’s Art of Darkness, back for its second year. “Most of the artists in this exhibit are locals,” said gallery owner Jennifer Gillooly Cahoon of the 42 pieces in the exhibition. “Some pieces are creepy and others are whimsical and funny.”

The show was juried by the Hugo-award winning fantasy/sci-fi artist (and Motif cover artist) Bob Eggleton, and he also is showing some of his Cthulhu pieces. “This isn’t unicorns, butterflies and puppies,” said Gillooly Cahoon. “This show is about artists exploring the darker side of life.”

Art of Darkness runs through Nov 15. The opening reception takes place on October 25 from 6 – 9pm, with the award ceremony at 7. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. HeARTspot Art Center and Gallery, 1970 Pawtucket Ave, East Providence.
