At Providence, a strong nor’easter will bring 2 – 4 inches of rain with winds up to 25MPH sustained and up to 50MPH gusts, Fri 4pm – Mon 11pm. A High Wind Warning is in effect Fri 8am – Sun 8am and a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect Fri 5pm – Sun 8pm. Thunderstorms are possible Sun 5pm – Mon 7pm.
The three-day period of rainfall will lead to substantial totals, along the MA South Shore and Cape Cod 4 – 6 inches with wind gusts to 60MPH. This will cross several high-tide events that occur twice daily.
Although some limited urban street flooding is likely, the main risks from flooding will be coastal areas exposed to the south. Highest winds will occur in areas closer to the offshore storm, and will be strong enough to cause rip currents, beach erosion, downed tree limbs, and isolated power outages. A Storm Warning is in effect Fri 2am – Sat 8pm for coastal and offshore waters.
