The Who What When Where of 2018 RI PrideFest

By Heather Rigney

The 43rd Annual PrideFest will start at noon and continue until 7 PM on South Water Street and will feature a mix of live entertainment on the main stage, a business marketplace with over 200 plus vendors, Kid’s Zone, food trucks, arts, Youth Center, and a beer, wine, and spirits garden. A rally and speaking program will take place at 3 PM from our main stage and will feature local community leaders. Entry is through the South Entrance by Wickenden Street and a North Entrance at the start of Memorial Blvd and South Water Street.

RI Pride is home to the only Illuminated Night Parade in New England which will kick off at 8 PM and is one of the highlights to the celebration with a dazzling display of floats, performing artists, marching groups, businesses, and spectators that wind through downtown Providence and culminate at the RI Pride Reviewing area under the historic marquee of the Providence Performing Arts Center. Spectators can watch the parade as it travels down Dorrance Street, continuing to Washington Street, then Empire Street, and finally wrapping up on Weybosset Street.

The main stage will be hosted by local celebrity Lulu Locks, Providence drag performers Kira

Stone, Complete Destruction, and Onyx, as well as local comedian John Kelley. The stage will feature New England based gay dance party

guru DJ Ephraim Adamz as our DJ for the day. Our main stage will feature headlining acts Monet X Change from

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10 and Laila McQueen from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8. Local

high energy dance rock act Jodi Jolt and The Volt will also appear on the main stage along

with countless other acts representing various genres and drag performers.
