For declaring his goal as “trying to stop time,” it becomes striking the ways in which Boyd’s music seems to stretch across it. He uses an upright bass, bass guitar, looping and vocals to create atmospheric music. Joshua Marcus sounds like he could be a child sitting at the top of a mountain, singing into an abyss. Stark but sweet vocals dancing along with acoustic banjo, guitar and ukulele.
