Held at several historic and hip haunts in Providence, this year’s national Rocky Horror Picture Show (RHPS) convention proved that creatures of the night have all the fun, even 41 years later.
The year’s theme was “Rocky Noir,” so it’s only fitting that many of the RKO Con’s guests opted to inject a little extra drama and fatalism into their garb.
Pictured here are some of the event’s attendees posing in the Con’s official photo booth, dressed like characters from “Shock Treatment.” “Shock Treatment” is the 1981 “semi-sequel” to the RHPS, which was shadow casted by the RKO Army during RKO Con.
The RKO Army, Rhode Island’s RHPS shadowcast, hosted the event. They performed at the very beginning of the RHPS production.
This next photo demonstrates that in order to give themselves over to “absolute pleasure,” RHPS performers had to first give themselves over to mastering physically demanding, synchronized dance moves. Hot patootie, bless my soul!
Of course, one of the best parts of any RHPS performance is its audience engagement. Here, the Columbus Theatre crowd enthusiastically dances “The Time Warp” along with the cast.
