American Band Joins RI Music Hall of Fame

True, the Rolling Stones have been around since forever, but how many bands keep playing for 185 years? The American Band is one of the oldest military-style bands in the US, and in recognition, it’s being inducted into the RI Music Hall of Fame, a recognition delayed from 2020.

The event will be celebrated with a concert at URI’s Recital Hall in Kingston on Sun, May 15, 2022 at 3:00 pm.

The free event is being produced by the URI Music Department and Notable Works, and will also feature the Notable Works’ Ensemble performing work by composer Noreen Inglesi, plus presentations by poets Nicole DiPaolo, David Dragone and Mary Ann Mayer as well as Priscilla De La Cruz of the Audobon Society and the Environment Council of Rhode Island. Visit uri.edumusic/events for more info.

The RI Music Hall of Fame will be recognizing other inductees, from 2020 and 2022, in the coming months.
