RI Comic Con Celebrates its 5th Anniversary

From November 11 through 13 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, the city is going to be taken into a new dimension. There’s going to be people dressing in costume, artistic dynamos, structural monstrosities and even a few celebrities. The atmosphere is going to be electric and eyes will be amazed at the visuals they’ll absorb both on canvas and in reality. A transformation will be underway as The Creative Capital becomes the epicenter for crazed fandom from numerous realms. It’ll all be happening when the Rhode Island Comic Con celebrates its 5^th anniversary.

Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee will make his final New England appearance along with many other guests. Those include “Doctor Who’s” Billie Piper, acclaimed actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, “The Walking Dead” and “American Horror Story’s” Alexandra Breckenridge, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s” Alfonso Ribiero, “Power Rangers’” Amy Jo Johnson, “Sons Of Anarchy’s” Mark Boone Jr. and the man who played Star Wars’ Lando Calrissian, Billie Dee Williams. There will also be a few pro wrestling superstars such as Ric Flair, “Bad Ass” Billy Gunn, Candice Michelle, Charles Wright (Papa Shango, The Godfather), Christie Hemme, Ricky Steamboat, Melina Perez, Gremlina, Aron Rex, Gail Kim, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Hornswoggle and Kelly Kelly. On top of all that, “Cheers’” John Ratzenberger, DJ Qualls (Road Trip, The New Guy, Hustle & Flow) and “Star Trek: Voyager’s” Kate Mulgrew will also be present. And that’s only half of the celebrities who’ll be hanging out.

There will also a bunch of comic book artists including Renee Witterstaeter, Allen Bellman, Joe Sinnott, Kevin Eastman, Neal Adams, Terry Austin, Tom Palmer, Roy Thomas, Bob Wiacek, Geof Isherwood and Steve Lavigne. A cosplay contest will also be taking place where the winner will win $5,000 in cash and prizes. With all of this going on, how can you not want to go? It’s bound to be a blast.
