Providence Polaroid Project has been selected by PopUp Providence to install a temporary Polaroid camera shop, instant film gallery, and participatory portrait studio in Downcity Providence. Chosen as part of the city’s first “Tactical Urbanism” initiative, project creators Devan Durante and Brandon Lane, conceived of their installation as a celebration of Providence’s people, style, and soul.
The project will pop up at 235 Westminster St. from July 19 through August 22 and remain free and open to the community. Acting as an analog intervention in a digital world, Providence Polaroid Project offers free use of its extensive instant camera collection, with aim to capture hundreds of unique images created by guests. This summer, help make Providence an instant city.
