Live Bait generally doesn’t pick themes that relate to specific dates or seasons. There have been exceptions of course (“Die, Monster, Die” for Halloween, anyone?), though they have been pretty rare. But what with this heatwave, which will in all probability be even worse in August (sorry, but Live Bait is all about the truth, folks), we couldn’t help but focus on the obvious. With that in mind, August’s theme will be “LOSING YOUR COOL.” Naturally, story tellers need not be so literal; there are many different varieties of cool to be lost.
One area August’s show won’t be losing its cool is in the sidekick realm. While Jerry “The Professor” Gregoire will not be able to make it, Boy Wonder Playwright and Local Theatre Impresario Kevin Broccoli will be filling in for him. Not so much for music but for his trademark lightning-quick quippery and catty bantering with Phil “The Host” Goldman (between stories, of course).
So, if you have a true-life story that in any way, shape or form fits August’s theme, “LOSING YOUR COOL,” come to Live Bait. All you have to do put your name in the fishbowl and, when your name is called, come up and tell your story. No notes, no rants, no stand-up routines, and a six minute time limit. Of course, you may also choose to just sit back and listen. We’d love to have you.
