The Timelessness of The King’s Busketeers: A splash into sea shanties

Sea Shanties are typically not my preferred listening, but my recent research into the genre as a whole has yielded some fascinating results. Long before TikTok made it trending, The King’s Busketeers – Joshua Gannon-Salomon, Andrew Prete, and Sam Atwood – were continuing the traditions of many sailors before them hundreds of years in the […]

Above the Noise: Hello, Atlantic talk about what drives their band forward

Hello, Atlantic is probably the top techno-based emo-pop band in the local scene right now. A Thanksgiving Playlist: This Thanksgiving may be different than usual, but that doesn’t mean it won’t rock

Looking forward to the holidays this year is complicated, to say the least. Latest from Electro-Pop Artist John Phelps Was Written in Lockdown: This collection of songs is as raw as it gets

My first impression of John Phelps’ self-titled EP John was the lead single “Streetlights,” which features a super catchy beat and a danceable chorus hook. An artsy and aesthetic video that Phelps directed accompanies the single. During a brief chat with him, he revealed that with this project, he took some liberties with the mix […]

Folk-Pop Songstress Lauren King Meets Her Younger Self with New Single “The Wolf is Back”: The concept video for this sprightly tune emphasizes becoming your best self even through hard lessons.

As the first single following the 2016 release of her debut album Don’t Look Her in the Eye (which I heartily recommend), “The Wolf is Back” is a worthy introduction into this new era of Lauren King music. If you’re anything like me, you’ve been waiting with bated breath for her next single – but […]

Jelly Side Down’s Debut Hits All the Right Notes: The local alt rock band will release “Had to Be There” on Halloween

The first time I listened to Jelly Side Down’s debut, Had to Be There, my jaw dropped, and I distinctly remember pausing the song “Polaroids” to share it with my mom. The production quality and the layered harmonizing guitars in the mastered mix were immaculate (but I’ll talk more about that later). I’m convinced that […]
