Beer On Earth Here in RI

Hot enuf for ya?!? This batch o’ way-cool brew news will offer a respite from the heat…

beer.7.9The last time around, we toasted the opening of Taproot Brewing Co. And this time around we’re welcoming the latest member of the mushrooming 401 Beer Scene: Beer On Earth, which will  stage its grand opening at 6670 Post Rd, North Kingstown, this weekend (Fri, Jul 6 from 4 – 9pm, Sat, Jul 7 from 3 – 9pm and Sun, Jul 8 from 12 – 5pm). Adam Henderson and Paul DiBiase have been working toward this weekend for 18 months. They took a brief break to tell us: “If all goes well, we are on track to have six beers on tap to start: blonde ale, coffee porter, saison, IPA, double IPA and a Berliner Weisse. We are currently putting the final touches on an outdoor patio area to accommodate more guests and allow people to enjoy our beer in the sun. We will be offering howlers in the near future as a take-home option, but we are going to hold off on them for the opening weekend.” Cheers and best of luck, guys! Get updates at beeronearth.com

Morgan Snyder at Buttonwoods Brewery tells us that his beer “is going into cans. The first release will be July 20, featuring two brands – Hip Hop Is Dead, our DIPA, and Everything Is Alright, an IPA. We’ll also be releasing our Grey Sail collab sour IPA with strawberries the week before.” More input at buttonwoodsbrewery.com

Chip Samson at Shaidzon Beer Co. reports: “We introduced a new beer [on June 29]: Little Bella, a blonde ale dry-hopped with Ella and Amarillo – a nice, light summer sipper. Little Bella will be in 16-ounce cans and on draught. Grafton’s Dead, a pale lager, came out in cans [last] weekend and For No One, a Double IPA, will be released in cans on Friday, July 6. We are having a blast with food trucks/carts coming out to the brewery. And we have also introduced a little Saturday/Sunday-only outdoor space, just outside our front door, that we call Shaidzon Patio.” Check facebook.com/shaidzonbeerco for the latest word.

Matt Gray at Ragged Island says: “We have a canning run with Iron Heart Canning on July 20, and then we will have tons of fresh beers ready for the market! This run will include our brand new Beach Day Session IPA (4.8% ABV). We will also can Coggeshall Ave Pale Ale for the first time, our Ales 4 ALS Pale Ale for a second time, and Hydrofoil DIPA (which we usually can every time). We are also pleased to have the Independent Craft logo from the Brewers Association appear on all of our cans moving forward.” And get your tix for the Craft Brew Races fest at Fort Adams State Park on Saturday, July 21. A 5K walk/run is followed by a three-hour brew fest, featuring more than three dozen breweries, including most of the 401 independent craft beer family. Get the details at craftbrewraces.com

Jay Lourenco at Crooked Current said: “Blueberry American Wheat, Strawberry Blonde Ale, and Hefeweizen are cycling on and off our taplist. We’ve also never been afraid to feature our dark beers in the middle of summer, so look out for the Hawaiian Robust Porter, Oatmeal Raisin Stout, Coffee and Vanilla Porter, and Neapolitan Brown Ale. Our S.M.a.S.H. (Single Malt and Single Hop) series will also continue to expand this summer as we concoct even more delicious brews for the hop-lovers in our crowds.”

Mat Medeiros at Revival Brewing said that Pinky Swear, their Berliner Weisse, was recently awarded the silver medal in the Best Sour Ale and Best Fruit Beer category at the World Beer Championships from Tastings.com. And be on the lookout for tallboys of Paul and Al’s Pale Ale, made with English malts and Azacca and Mosaic hops.

And Newport Craft Brewing recently released its new Comfortably Unaware, a New England IPA brewed with Citra, El Dorado and Galaxy hops. And head to their HQ on Friday, July 6 for a beer and waffle pairing in collaboration with Burgundian: Coffee and Waffles; and on Saturday, July 7, the Sip & Sweat workout series presents a Bootcamp & Brews session.
