Food Truck Profile: There’s A New Cart In Town

What do a regional Crossfit athlete, a successful entrepreneur and a self-proclaimed doughnut connoisseur have in common? Doughnut making! Partners Jake Marconi, Paul Kettelle and Cooper Marsh have put their heads together to create the newest addition to Providence’s raging food truck community, The Dough Cart

So how did this idea come about?

In the words of Marsh, “I just really like doughnuts…” and it grew from there. The initial concept was for the cart to be a mobile PVDonuts with help from Lori Kettelle, Paul’s wife and co-owner of PVDonuts. But after thinking through the details of this endeavor, they realized that The Dough Cart could be more than a PVDonuts satellite and could instead be a sister company standing on its own, supported by PVDonuts and its community of followers.

The Dough Cart is a doughnut food truck that serves classic, made-to-order cake doughnuts. Kettelle describes their donuts as, “Nothing crazy and over the top. More like simple and straightforward, but still with that little artisanal twist.” They’ll be serving five or six basic and recognizable doughnut flavors, while staying true to sister company favorites such as the Cereal Milk doughnut. Eventually, the founders hope to create seasonal delights, like apple cider or pumpkin doughnuts in the fall, but as Marconi stated, “Our goal is to remain within the limits of classic flavors.”

The Dough Cart is starting out small by catering special events, such as weddings and corporate events; however, they’ll also host open-to-the-public pop-ups. Their next event is on July 28 from 12 – 5pm at Long Live Beerworks in PVD. You also can stay updated with The Dough Cart’s news and whereabouts on their Instagram, Twitter (@thedoughcart) and Facebook pages! For catering info, go to thedoughcart.co.

The founders of The Dough Cart would also like to extend special thanks to Lori Kettelle of PVDonuts, Mike Tasca of Tasca Ford, Jessica DeBry of Long Live Beerworks and Tommy of Kroops Design for their assistance in making their dream a reality.
