Gang de Filles: A celebration of bad-ass womxn

Don’t even worry, your Saturday plans are booked and they are awesome

With International Women’s Day coming up (it’s Sunday) PVDLive and La Boheme Noir et. Co, an organization dedicated to hosting “thoughtfully curated events allowing humans to connect,” are joining together to present Gang de Filles: An International Women and Non-Binary Celebration. This is an entire day dedicated to women and non-binary artists, musicians, business leaders, speakers, healers and pretty much every other bad-ass womxn you know.

The event is being held at The Good Will Engine Company in Providence and features more than 15 different musicians as well as vendors, DJs and choreographers. There are also going to be three speakers: Mia Matias, a doula, who will speak on what a doula is; Sabrina Chaudry from Stay Silent PVD who will speak on aesthetic; and Loren Intolubbe-Chmil who will speak on Indigenous women carrying the world.

The coolest thing about this event is that The Good Will Engine Company is presenting something different on each of its three floors. The top floor will be all about vintage and artists. On the second floor, every room will have a different event, such as tarot or reiki, as well as a small stage. On the main floor, larger bands will perform. Troop is manning the bar and will have some of their personal bartenders there to make drinks of all kinds. There will also be a few featured food options, including Baked Goods by Mackenzie, Jazz’s Spanish Small Bites, Dino Snacks: CBD Infused Treats, and Talia: Turkish Food. There will also be portraits available from Brittanny Taylor, which I can sure assure you, you definitely want to do.

This year’s theme is Equal for Equal and is cited as, “An equal world is an enabled world.” One of the event’s organizers, Chrissy Stewart, thinks that this is an event to bring people together. “It’s an important time to come together in our community of women, trans and non-binary persons, as a reminder of what’s going on, on a local level and in our political climate, to remember how much we’re doing and how bad-ass we are. Let’s come together to feel that love and comfort.”

The event runs from 2pm to midnight with new and exciting experiences throughout the day. Good Will Engine Company, 41 Central St, PVD. Find out more at fb.com/events/320509985557295
