AS220 broke our hearts when they announced that there will be no Foo Fest this summer. But like a guilty lover, they dangled irresistible Foo-like programming in front of us that will be happening all summer long. It’s like a deconstructed Foo Fest, and we and our Foo-ish hearts will definitely be there. Their programming […]
The Tipsy Seagull is a seasonal floating outdoor bar located at the mouth of Narragansett Bay at Borden Light Marina, easily accessible from RI via RT195W. Whether you come by car or boat, you can enjoy the feel of the Florida Keys, dancing under palm trees and soaking up some rays. It’s not just […]
You can complain about the potholes and the corruption or you can cheer about our vibrant arts community and quirky population, but what easily gets lost between these two extremes is how interesting a history our little state has. This summer, we are making the novel suggestion that you be a tourist in your hometown and read […]
Once again, PVDFest takes to the streets in celebration of rich arts and culture communities from RI and around the world. From June 6 through 9, there will be dance, art installations, an ideas festival and food (think a 50+ food truck “village” in Kennedy Plaza) throughout the public spaces. Sponsored by Mayor Jorge O. I grew up in Texas and experienced more scorchingly hot summer days than I care to count. This year so far has given us snow, rain, more rain and grey skies. RI doesn’t get the promised four seasons. In the hopes that summer weather will soon be here, I have compiled […]

Family fun, music, foodies, cultural – RI has it all! Providence’s art, culture and culinary communities come together each year to kick off summer with PVDFest. Hosted by […]
Goodbye – and Good Riddance Phillipe and Jorge were sad to see that Newport’s most famous gigolo, Claus von Bulow, popped his clogs the other day at age 96. Not because if there was a God, the alleged murdering s.o.b. should have died long ago, but because he was a source of vast entertainment and […]
We conducted an informal poll of the kids in our lives to find out what they plan to do with what will be, as one child assured us with fists raised triumphantly, “The best. Summer. Ever!!” Surprisingly, 41% of those who responded to our poll also stated their belief that Elmo should be impeached. Check out […]
Nostalgia for the lazy days of childhood. Fear that summer brain drain will put your kid at the end of the class come September. Theories conflict, heart and mind clashes — what’s an overworked, stressed out parent madly in love with their brood to do to make the most of one of 18 short summers […]
